Mr. Gutter vs. the national gutter guard brands

In This Old House's 2026 survey of homeowners, professionally installed gutter guards averaged about $40 per linear foot, roughly $7,900 for a 200-foot home, and the big national brands reported between about $40 and $62 per foot. Those systems are typically sold through in-home sales appointments and typically installed by subcontractors.

Our guards cost about half what the national brands charge, and our own crew does all the work. We don't use subcontractors, and your gutters are cleaned and repaired as part of the job.

What changes the price

  • Linear feet. Guards are priced by the foot of gutter covered.
  • Guard type. Fine stainless mesh like All Mesh Pro costs more than screens and foam, and it's the type that keeps out pine needles.
  • Height and roof pitch. Taller homes and steep roofs take more time.
  • Gutter condition. Gutters often need cleaning, resealing or rehanging before guards go on. With us, that's included in the price.
  • New or existing gutters. Adding guards when you're getting new gutters is the simplest time to do it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much do gutter guards cost?
Mr. Gutter installs gutter guards for $9 to $15 per linear foot, including cleaning your gutters and downspouts and any repairs needed. That's about $1,350 to $3,000 for a typical 150 to 200 foot home.
Why is LeafFilter so expensive?
National-brand guard systems like LeafFilter, LeafGuard and Gutter Helmet are sold through in-home sales appointments backed by heavy advertising. In a 2026 This Old House survey, professionally installed guards averaged around $40 per linear foot. Our guards cost about half what the national brands charge.
Who installs national-brand gutter guards?
National gutter guard brands typically use subcontracted installers. At Mr. Gutter, our own crew does all the work. We don't use subcontractors.
Are leaf guards, gutter covers and gutter screens the same as gutter guards?
Mostly, yes. They're different names for products that cover the gutter to keep debris out. What matters is the design: fine stainless mesh like All Mesh Pro keeps out pine needles and shingle grit, while basic screens let smaller debris through.
Are gutter guards worth the cost?
For homes with trees nearby or tall rooflines, guards often pay for themselves by replacing cleanings that can run two or three times a year, and by preventing overflow damage.
Do I need new gutters before guards?
Not usually. Guards fit most existing gutters, and cleaning and any needed repairs are included in our guard installations.
Do your gutter guards have a warranty?
Yes. All Mesh Pro guards are backed by the manufacturer's warranty and a no-clog money-back guarantee: if properly installed gutters ever clog or overflow from debris inside them, you get your money back. See the manufacturer's warranty details.
