We stop the same ice dam from coming back every winter
Heat cables, Rhode Island & Nearby MA

We stop the same ice dam from coming back every winter

We install roof and gutter heat cables in the spots where ice dams form every winter: in a zigzag along the lower roof edge, and through the gutters and downspouts so the drainage path doesn't freeze solid.

Cables keep a channel open so meltwater can drain past the cold roof edge. They don't stop snow from melting higher on the roof (that comes from attic heat loss), so we place cable only where it's needed and talk through how and when to run it.

Have an ice dam right now? We remove existing dams by hand, carefully cutting channels so the trapped water can drain. Estimates for heat cables are free.

We install heat cables in RI towns including Providence, Warwick, Cranston, East Providence, Woonsocket and Newport, and in Massachusetts towns such as Attleboro, Seekonk, Swansea, Fall River, Franklin and Mansfield.

How heat cables protect your home

Roof-edge cables

Cables run in a zigzag along the lower roof edge, where ice dams form, to keep meltwater moving.

Gutter and downspout cables

A cable through the gutter and down the downspout keeps the drainage path from freezing solid.

Targeted to problem spots

We put cable where ice keeps forming, not across the whole roof, so you're not heating what doesn't need it.

A seamless, frictionless experience. It was easy to set up an appointment; the crew arrived on time and did the work quickly and efficiently. Gutters look great and I couldn't be happier.

The local difference: no sales pitch

National gutter brands sell through in-home appointments. We'd rather just give you a straight answer.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do heat cables prevent ice dams?
They keep channels open so meltwater can drain past the cold roof edge. They don't stop snow from melting on the upper roof; that comes from attic heat loss, which insulation and ventilation fix.
Where do heat cables go?
Along the lower roof edge in a zigzag pattern, and through the gutters and downspouts in the areas where ice forms.
Do heat cables work with gutter guards?
Yes. Clear, guarded gutters plus heat cables in problem spots give meltwater the best path off the roof.
Can you remove the ice dam I have now?
Yes. See our ice dam removal service. We carefully cut channels through the ice by hand so the water can drain, without damaging the roof.
Do heat cables use a lot of electricity?
They draw power while they're on, which is why we place cable only where ice forms. We'll talk through how and when to run them.
